Coma Galaxy Cluster

Cluster of galaxies in the constellation Coma Berenices. Not an easy subject to image from my Southern Hemisphere location where the cluster never rises higher than about 25 degrees. Click on the image for a larger version.

Below: Two crops of the image centred on the cluster.

The two large elliptical galaxies that dominate the centre of the cluster visually are NGC 4889 (left) and NGC 4872 (right). The cluster's distance from Earth is about 320 million light-years.
